So blessed to live in a place where these are the views you can see any
time! Coming from a very Mediterranean city (close to a thousand km East
or West to the ocean!), I love living by the sea! I did this plein air
painting last May while at the Sidney Boat Show. We were invited by Art
Sea to paint during this event. It was lovely day with inspiring views.

Tengo tanta suerte de vivir en un lugar donde tenemos vistas como estas
todo el tiempo! Me encanta vivir cerca del mar y lo aprecio
especialmente ya que vengo de una ciudad muy mediterránea, cerca de 1000
km hacia el este o éste para llegar al océano! Hice este cuadro este
mayo pasado durante la Exhibición de Barcos de Sidney. Fuimos invitados
por Art Sea para pintar durante este evento. Fue un día hermoso con
vistas inspiradras. Pueden ver este cuadro en la Galería Genoa Bay,
donde recientemente empecé a mostrar mis cuadros! Pasen a ver arte,

Let’s see if I can get back with the program, it seems I needed a little
break from social media!! So we are going back to summer with this
post. This one day last August we tried fishing for halibut in a bank in
the middle of Queen Charlotte Strait. Actually, let’s correct that: my
husband tried fishing, I painted! It was a very quiet morning, the water
was very still and we could hear whales in the distance, every now and
then we would hear their puffs from them surfacing to breathe. We looked and looked but they were not close enough to see them. It’s was a beautiful day anyway! This
is the painting created that day. I love the colours that happened.... I
may have to do a larger version of this one. I called it Waiting as
that is what we were doing: Waiting for the whales to get closer, for
the fish to bait and for me to finish the painting!!

Veamos si puedo volver a la rutina, parece que me hacía falta una
vacación de Instagram y Facebook. Con este post volvemos al verano:?este
día en particular en agosto, tratamos de pescar, mejor dicho, mi esposo
trató de pescar y yo pinté! Era una mañana muy tranquila, el mar estaba
muy calmo y podíamos escuchar ballenas a la distancia, a cada rato se
sentían cuando salían a respirar. Miramos y miramos pero no estaban tan
cerca como para verlas. Lo mismo, fue hermoso! Éste es el cuadro que
pinté ese día. Me encantan los colores que aparecieron, tal vez tenga
que hacer una versión grande. La titulé Esperando, ya que estábamos
esperando que las ballenas se acercaran, que los pescados picaran y que
yo terminara este cuadro!!

"Sitting in the Morning Sun" was painted
this summer during our sailing trip in August. As you may remember, my
husband and I spend a month on our sailboat cruising around the
Broughtons and Desolation Sound. Many nights, we would drop anchor in
quiet bays without any other boats in sight. These coves are usually
small and protected with beautiful sights to paint. Many times, the
views would be quite closed in, and in the end, I ended up focusing
on small, intimate views of several points or islets which didn't
include any part of the sky which was different form the landscapes I
usually paint. Can you guess what we were listening to as I painted???

Pinté "Sentados al Sol de la Mañana" este verano durante
nuestro viaje en el velero en agosto. Como pueden recordar tal vez, mi
esposo y yo pasamos un mes navegando por las Broughtons y Desolation
Sound. Muchas noches tirábamos el ancla en bahías muy tranquilas en las
que no había ningún otro velero. Éstas bahías son normalmente muy
pequeñas y protegidas con vistas hermosas para pintar. Muchas veces
estas vistas eran bastante cerradas y al final terminé enfocándome en
vistas muy íntimas de islotes sin incluir nada de cielo. Pueden
adivinar qué canción estaba escuchando mientras pintaba? Me encanta esa
canción!

Last Early June, I went painting in the interior of our province as I
have done the last couple of years. This particular afternoon had busy
skies with a storm that kept skirting around but didn't get us! It only
started sprinkling a bit as we were packing up!

I have donated this painting to the BC Cancer Foundation and their event Jingle Mingle happening on Nov 30th at the Empress Hotel here in Victoria, BC. I painted this one last Spring on Moss Street when the cherry blossoms were out, what a show!! I can hardly wait to paint them again next year! I love what the Foundation is fundraising for: To be able to purchase a PET-CT Scan machine so that patients don't have to go to Vancouver for imaging. We have all been touched in some way or other by this horrible disease, either personally or through friends or family. Having a machine in town would make things a lot easier for people on the island. Please consider attending the event, tickets can be purchased at the site above. It should be a good event with a Silent and Live Auction, Raffle and more! This is just my humble contribution to the cause.

He donado este cuadro a la Fundación de Cancer de British Columbia y su evento Jingle Mingle que ocurre el 30 de Noviembre en el Empress Hotel aquí en Victoria. Pinté este cuadro esta primavera pasada en la calle Moss cuando todos los cerezos estaban en flor. Qué espectaculo!! No veo la hora que vuelvan a florecer este año que viene para pintarlos de nuevo! Me gustó mucho el motivo de este evento: para recaudar fondos para comprar una máquina para tomografías en estaría en el hospital de acá, de este modo, los pacientes con cancer no van a tener que ir a Vancouver para hacer estos estudios. Desafortunadamente, el cancer nos ha tocado a todos, de forma directa o indirecta con amigos o familiares. Tener un tomógafo en Victoria sería tanto mejor para las familias que estan pasando por estas dificulatdes. Por favor, consideren ir al evento, las entradas están en venta en el sitio que les muestro arriba, va a estar muy beno, con subastas, rifas y mas! esta es mi humilde contribución para esta causa.
This was the last piece I painted this last May in our trip to
Ashcroft.... Once on our way back home, we visited one of the
participants of the paint out who lived in Kamloops and we painted
just outside her place.... there were SO MANY paintings to be done right
then and there..... I ended up picking this view and the patterns and
textures were what really captivated me. I was so excited about them!
So I chose to just go in with a lot of gusto and colour and in the end I
am really happy with how it turnd out. The place was called Cinammon
Hills hence the name of the painting. :) Thank you Max for showing us
your little slice of heaven :)

fue el último cuadro que hice en el viaje de Mayo a Ashcroft. Ya de
regreso a casa, pasamos a visitar a una de las pintoras que había estado
en Ascroft que vive en Kamloops y ella nos llevó a pintar cerquita de
su casa.... Había TANTOS cuadros para pintar ahí mismo en un solo lugar!
Terminé eligiendo esta vista que estaba lleba de texturas y diseños que
me captivaron en el acto. Estaba tan encantada con ellos!! Decidí
empezar a pintar con mucho entusiasmo y colores y al final esty
contenta con los resultados. Gracias Max por mostrarnos un poquito de tu
mundo. :)
I had the privilege of being in a group of artists that went into Echo
Canyon in High Bar on the Fraser River last May. Our host Wayne Larsen from Big Bar
Lake drove us though mountains and gorgeous views to this spot that was
quite something. How do you put it all onto canvas?? How do you convey
the size and scale of what you have in front of you?? The vastness of the
terrain and the size of the canyon itself made it very difficult
to paint the whole thing so instead of trying to fit it all, which is
quite impossible by the way, I chose to zone into one particular area,
the one that had the most contrast and decided to turn the day into an
exercise. I was determined to study each shape with its colours and
values without being too concerned about the finished painting. Through
the whole painting I just kept saying to myself: "It' just shapes, it's
just shapes, what colour is it?". At the end of the day I wasn't too
impressed by my painting but really liked the strokes and how much I had
leanrt by just looking and recording. Now, when I look at the painting I
am actually pretty happy with it.

Este Mayo pasado tuve el privilegio de ser parte de un grupo de artistas que fue al Cañón Eco en High Bar en el Río Fraser. Nuestro anfitrión Wayne Larsen del Lago Big Bar no llevó a través de montañas y paisajes hermosísimos a este lugar tan especial. Como hace uno para poner todo eso sobre el lienzo? Como uno transmite el tamaño y la escala de lo que tiene al frente? La grandeza del terreno y el tamaño del cañón mismo hacían muy difícil poder pintarlo entero por lo me concentré en pintar una zona en particular, la zona que tenía más contraste. Decidí transformar todo el día en un ejercicio. Estaba determinada en estudiar cada forma con sus colores y valores sin preocuparme mucho por el cuadro final. Durante todo el cuadro simplemente me dije a mí misma: "Son solamente formas, son solamente formas, de qué color son?" Al final del día no estaba muy satisfecha con el cuadro pero realmente me habían gustado las pinceladas y todo lo que había aprendido simplemente mirando y grabando lo que tenía al frente. Ahora, cuando miro el cuadro de nuevo, estoy bastante contenta con cómo quedó.

Estamos tan agradecidas de que nos hayan invitado este año de nuevo. Hasta el año que viene!!
When you go painting plein air with other people you have to adapt yourself to what the majority of the group is doing, that goes for anything & everything actually, doesn't it?..... I had already finished my painting and had some time left before the others finished theirs but I didn't have so much time to start a bigger one. So I decided to play with the shapes and colours of the sage bushes right in front of me and use the paint that was actually on the palette leftover from the previous painting. It was ok.....but nothing to write home about. Last week as I was finishing other work, I took another go at it and I am quite happy with it now.

Cuando uno va a pintar afuera con otra gente hay que adaptarse a lo que la mayoría del grupo está haciendo, esto, la verdad, se aplica a todo no?… Yo ya había terminado mi cuadro y tenía un poco de tiempo antes de que los otros terminaran sus cuadros pero no tenía tanto tiempo como para empezar y desarrollar un cuadro mas grande o mas complicado. Por eso decidí jugar con los colores y formas de los arbustos de salvia que tenía al frente mío y simplemente usar un poco de la pintura que me había quedado en la paleta del cuadro anterior. Estaba más o menos bien… pero nada especial. Esta semana pasada mientras terminaba otros trabajos, le agregué algunas cosas, cambié otras, saqué elementos y ahora estoy mas contenta con cómo ha quedado.
Still sharing Ashcroft
paintings..... For the weekend of the paint-out, which has been
happenning for the last few years at the end of May, it is truly
wonderful to see how the community opens their doors for us painters to
invade their hometown and create. They help with set up, everybody is
friendly and lots come out to the show on the last day. Sundance Ranch
is one of the many ranches in the area just outside the city and it is
where we painted on Sunday morning. We are so thankful they allowed us
painters to go onto their property, we had a great time!

Todavía les sigo mostrando cuadros de Ashcroft.... Para el fin de semana de la pintada que se organiza el último fin de semana en Mayo de cada año es realmente maravilloso ver cómo la comunidad abre las puertas a los pintores que invaden su pueblo para crear. Ayudan con la organización, todos muestran mucha amabilidad y muchos vienen a la muestra del último día. La Estancia Sundance está apenas en las afueras de la ciudad y es donde pintamos el domingo a la mañana. Estamos tan agradecidas de que los dueños nos hayan permitido pintar en su propiedad, la pasamos tan bien!
By the time I did this painting last May we had been painting for a few days and I was really enjoying the colours and shapes of the landscape so I was more comfortable going a bit bigger en plein air. We found these lovely vistas of Ashcroft and the valley from a side road. It was a VERY hot afternoon and the only way for me to be able to paint was to be in the shade. Thankfully we had taken a gazebo/tent and we made very good use of it. It was 4 of us under it trying to stay out of the sun, I wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise!!

Cuando hice este cuadro este Mayo pasado ya hacía varios días que estabamos pintando y
yo estaba disfrutando mucho de los colores y formas del paisaje, por
eso probé de hacer un cuadro mas grande al aire libre. Habíamos encontrado este lugar en una calle en la montaña que tenía vistas del valle y la ciudad de Ashcroft. Hacía MUCHO calor
ese día y para mi estar en la sombra era la única forma. Por suerte
habíamos llevado un gazebo y lo usamos mucho! Eramos 4 abajo
escondiendonos del sol, yo no podría haber estado todo el día al sol sin
eso!
I have so much work to share with you all and I will start just one at a
time! This one is from the Ashcroft trip back in May and it was the
first painting of the trip. On the way there, we stopped for a night
at Sun Peaks, BC and
following the GSP (incorrect) directions we ended up on the wrong road!
No clue how it was planning to get us there. Anyway, we liked
what we saw and came back the following day to paint, we set up and
painted
fearing the storm the storm would hit but we were lucky and it passed!

Tengo tantos cuadros para mostrarles, voy a hacerlo uno por uno...... Este es del viaje a Ashcroft este pasado Mayo y fue el primer cuadro del viaje. Habíamos decidido pasar un par de noches en Sun Peaks, BC antes de ir a Ashcroft y siguiendo las direcciones (incorrectas) del GPS terminamos en el lugar equivocado! Ni idea tengo de dónde quería llevarnos el GPS. De todas formas nos gustó lo que vimos y volvimos al día siguiente a pintar en este lugar. Empezamos a pintar con miedo de que se largara la tormenta pero por suerte pasó!
Wow, I did it! It always amazes me at the end when I see all the work together.... This time I didn't set out to do all landscapes but it went that way with the explorations into different landscapes formats and compositions I did at the beginning of the month and then with the trip to Yellowknife and Arctic Haven. I did finish well over 30 paintings this past 30 days but unfortunately because of traveling and wifi/internet availability or lac there of, I wasn't always able to post in a timely fashion.... All in all, I leanrt a lot again and I have the beginnings of a couple of different series I am very excited about: BC landscapes in large scale and Fall Scenes at the moment, inspired by the visit up North. It's interesting that Fall hasn't really started here yet and I am all warmed up and ready to go! Thank you immensely for all your support this past month (and always) here, or on Facebook, Instagram and private messages. It means a lot! Wow, lo logré! Siempre me maravilla al final cuando veo todo el trabajo junto.... Esta vez, no tuve la intención de hacer sólo paisajes pero fue así como se desarrolló con las exploraciones de paisajes en distintas composiciones y formatos que hice al cominezo del mes y con el viaje a Yellowknife y Arctic Haven. Completé (o comencé con detalles por terminar) mucho mas de 30 cuadros este mes pero debido a días de viaje o falta de internet no pude publicarlos cuado debía.... Como conclusión, aprendí mucho de nuevo y tengo los comienzos de un par de series nuevas: Paisajes de Bristish Columbia en gran escala y Escenas de Otoño. Es interesante que este año puedo disfrutar del otoño mas timepo ya que empecé hace unas semanas en el norte y todavía no ha llegado a Victoria pero ya he echo el pre-calentamiento y estoy lista para seguir! Gracias de corazón por todo el apoyo este mes y siempre acá, en Facebook, Instagram o por mensajes privados. Significan mucho para mi! This last day in Yellowknife was interesting... Deb and I wanted to paint as it was the farewell and we wanted to reach our target goal of number of paintings done but we were tired and we ended up driving around forever looking for a good spot. It was very cloudy so the light was quite flat, that + the tiredness made it difficult to find a place we liked.... Finally at about 2 pm after dilly-dallying the whole day, we started! We came back to this one spot very close to City Hall. There's a trail around the whole lake, Frame Lake that is, and we picked this one view from the probably hundreds of beautiful views available. It was great to see the smiling faces of people walking by, they broke into big smiles saying things like "Cool", or "Wow, you are painting!". I think lots of the neighbours walking their dogs were surprised at finding us standing in the bush painting by the trail. :)

Éste último día en Yellowknife fue muy interesante.... Deborah y yo queríamos pintar ya que era la despedida y queríamos también alcanzar nuestra meta de números de cuadros pintados pero estábamos cansadas y terminamos dando vueltas por toda la ciudad tratando de encontrar un lugar que nos gustara. Estaba muy nublado ese día así que no había mucha luz para pintar, eso más lo cansadas que estábamos hizo difícil encontrar el lugar adecuado… Finalmente alrededor de las 2:00 de la tarde después de dar vueltas todo el día, comenzamos! Volvimos a un lugar muy cerca de la municipalidad. Hay un sendero alrededor de todo el lago, el Lago Frame, y elegimos esta vista en particular de las posibles cientos de vistas hermosas que debe haber. Fue muy divertido ver las caras sonrientes de la gente que pasaba caminando, apenas nos veían, decían con una sonrisa "Qué Bueno" o "Wow, están pintando! Creo que los vecinos que habían sacado a los perros a caminar estaban sorprendidos de encontrarnos paradas al costado del sendero pintando!!
As we were on Cabin Island on Ennadai Lake for the whole day and there was so much to paint I actually just moved the easel about 10 feet, faced a different direction and set out to work again after finishing this painting and sharing a lovely lunch on the beach.
I tried again doing 2 different paintings at the same time, trying out 2 different compositions. In this case, I wanted to see it looked with and without the sky portion and a square versus a rectangular version. When I say I do them at the same time, they are both up on the easel, one above the other, I sketch and do the block in for both of them and then I set out to work on one, to move on to the other one as I am pretty much finished with the first one. I am really enjoying these explorations of the same subject in different and I can hardly wait to have time back in the studio to keep diving.

One of the things that will always stand out for me from this day was that while I was painting, I actually heard silence for a long time. It's something that we don't experience very often and I have been trying to think whether I had heard it ever before. Typically while I'm painting, there's a breeze, the rustle of leaves, people close by talking, boats going by, etc. This particular day was eerily quiet, at one point when I actually noticed it, it felt as if I was in a vacuum. There was NOTHING, no sound at all for a while. It was a special day for sure.

Como estuvimos en la Isla Cabaña en el Lago Ennadai el día completo y había tanto para pintar simplemente moví mi atril unos metros después de terminar este cuadro, lo puse en otra dirección y empecé a trabajar de nuevo después de compartir un hermoso almuerzo en la playa. Traté de nuevo de hacer dos cuadros diferentes el mismo tiempo, tratando dos composiciones diferentes. En este caso quería ver cómo quedaba con o sin cielo y quería también ver la versión cuadrada o rectangular. Cuando digo que los hago al mismo tiempo, pongo los dos paneles en el atril, uno arriba de otro, hago el dibujo y bloqueo inicial para los dos y después empiezo a trabajar en uno, continuando con el segundo una vez que que terminado el primero. Estoy realmente disfrutando mucho de estos exploraciones del mismo tema en formas diferentes y tengo muchas ganas de volver al taller para seguir cone estos procesos y series.
Una de las cosas que siempre voy a recordar de este día que mientras estaba pintando, escuché el sonido del silencio durante un largo tiempo. Es algo que no vivimos muy a menudo con tanto ruido alredor todo el tiempo. Estaba tratando de pensar si alguna vez he escuchado un silencio total como el de ese día. Típicamente hay aunque sea una brisa, el ruido de las hojas, gente cerca hablando, pájaros, etc. Este día en particular había silencio puro, era como si yo hubiera estado. No había nada, ningún tipo de sonido durante un largo rato. Fue un día muy especial.
This was the third and last painting of the day at the end of Old Town in Yellowknife, NWT. The minute I walked out to the point I had seen these trees and all the movement they had but I didn't really want to paint just "the trees". But then as I finished the second painting and seeing we still had some time I found the right spot and finally did it. I was interested in capturing the movement I saw and the way they just dominated the corner. I am pretty pleased with it even when I know I have to touch up lots of things. Unfortunately it didn't travel well on our second leg to Arctic Haven and it got a few marks I'll have to repaint. It was a wonderful day of painting for sure!
Note: Last Friday morning my beloved Ipad stopped working. Since getting home from the Arctic trip I have spent 7+ hours fixing it, on the phone with Apple and Microsoft (awesome service from both!). Finally, Sunday morning I got it solved and I have everyhting working again, nothing lost too thanks to having everything on the cloud. I am behind sharing the paintings but I have already painted all 30 and then some!

Este fue el tercer y último cuadro del día en Old Town in Yellowknife, NWT. Apenas entré a esta zona ví estos árboles y todo el movimiento que tenían pero no quería pintarlos tan de cerca. Finalmente, una vez que había terminado los otros dos cuadros y como me sobraba tiempo, busqué el ángulo que me gustaba mas y comencé. Me interesaba mas que nada capturar el movimiento que tenían y cómo dominaban ese rincón del lago. Estoy bastante contenta con el resultado a pesar de tener que cambiar y retocar algunas cosas. Desafortunadamente, la pintura se dañó un poco al transportar el panel a Arctic Haven que fue la próxima etapa de nuestra aventura. Se marcó en algunos lugares y voy a atener que pintar nuevamente. La pasamos muy bien ese dia!
Nota: El viernes pasado mi amado Ipad dejó de funcionar. Desde que llegué a casa del Artico, me pasé mas de 7 horas tratando de arreglarlo, con ayuda por teléfono de Apple y Microsoft ( servicio buenisimos de los dos!). Finalmente el domingo a la mañana logré solucionarlo y por suerte tengo todo funcionando bien y no he perdido nada, gracias a que tenía todo en la nube.
Se que estoy muy retrasada con el blog pero ya he terminado de pintar los 30 cuadros!
This was the second painting of the day in Old Town in Yellowknife,. For this one, my self-imposed assignment was to stay with the big brush. I had been working with brushes that were too small for my liking and everything was getting fiddly for me. It was all about capturing the rhythm and colours of the rock formations. I stopped as soon as didn't know what else to do to it and I am glad I did. I am somewhat pleased with it, will re-evaluate once back in the studio :) A dog stopped to visit and pushed the painting on the ground. That's the spots you can see on the sky, dirt..... I was lucky it didn't get totally ruined, I'll just wipe it off once the painting is completely dry and touch up if necessary. The joys of plein air.....you never know what you will encounter!

Este es el segundo cuadro del día en Pueblo Viejo en Yellowknife. Me impuse la obligación de usar un pincel grande para la mayoría del cuadro ya que había estado usando pinceles demasiados chiquitos y estaba entrando en demasiados detalles muy pronto para mi gusto. La meta era capturar el ritmo y los colores de la roca. Paré una vez que no sabía que mas hacer y me alegro de haber echo eso. Estoy bastante conforme con el resultado.... re-evaluaremos una vez de regreso. :) Un perro pasó a visitar y me empujó el cuadro que estaba apoyado sobre una piedra, por eso se ven manchas en el cielo que es tierra, una vez que este bien seco voy a sacárselo y retocar si hace falta. Tuve suerte de que no se arruinara por completo.... el placer de la pintura al aire libre .... uno nunca sabe lo que se va a encontrar!

The second painting in Yellowknife, same place as yesterday's.... It had started to rain too much so we moved under the wooden structure which was a godsend :)
While we were painting lots of people stopped to chat, including 2 First Nations gentlemen and it a delight to talk with them. They were carvers so we talked about making art, the city, first nations delicacies, cooking caribou and potatoes on the manifold of the running car nad restaurant suggestions.... You just meet the neatest people while painting! Thank you Richard and Ron for sharing your stories.

El segundo cuadro en Yellowknife, en el mismo lugar de ayer.... Había empezado a llover demasiado por lo que nos habíamos mudado debajo de la estructura de madera que fue buenísimo tener cerca :)
Mientras estábamos pintando, mucha gente paró a charlar con nosotros, incluyendo dos señores indígenas que eran escultores. Charlamos de todo un poco, desde la creación de arte, la cuidad, platos indígenas, cocinar caribú y papas dentro del motor del auto y sugerencias de cuales eran buenos restaurantes para visitar..... Uno conoce gente muy interesante cuando se pinta afuera! Gracias Richard y Ron por compartir sus historias.

I was going through my files here in Blogger and found some unfinished, unpublished posts!! So I'll be sharing them in the next few ones.
This painting (which I love by the way) is one I did in Ashcroft last year. I have already shared with you a few times how infatuated I was with the colours of the desert and this was a great morning enjoying them at my easel. But first of all, I made sure there were no snakes around, I am completely terrified of them, I stomped around very hard while finding my spot, I was careful to walk BEHIND my friends Deborah and Sharlene (good friend I am, eh?) and set up to paint. I ended up having so much fun experimenting with brushwork and just trusting the process that day. I was not tied to the "results" by which I mean I was not concentrating on to "make a good painting", I was just having fun. The result in the end was something very loose and I think my enjoyment shows through. I did 2 paintings in that spot of almost the same view (next one in next post!). It's from a field on the road coming down to Ashcroft from Cache Creek.
On a different note it's very sad to think that these hills are burned at present time with the horrendous fires happening in our province this summer. I can totally understand how quickly it can spread with how dry everything is. As my way to help out with the fires, I'll be donating to the BC Fires Fund 50% of the proceeds from the sale of any Ashcroft paintings during the months of July and August. So if you are interested in this one or any other painting from Ashcroft, please let me know or head over to Calla Design and talk to Sue or Janice since I took the paintings there a while ago.

Estaba mirando unos archivos aquí en Blogger y encontré algunas cosas
que nunca había terminado ni publicado, así es que voy a mostrárselos de
a poco.
Este cuadro (que me encanta), es uno que hice en Ashcroft el
año pasado. Ya les he contado varias veces qué enamorada he estado de los
colores del desierto y este fue una gran mañana jugando con estos colores.
Primero que nada me asegure que no hubiera víboras alrededor, hice mucho
ruido con los pies mientras elegía mi lugar, me asegure de caminar DETRAS de mis amigas Deborah y Sharlene (que buena amiga soy
no?) y me puse a pintar. Terminé experimentando
con las pinceladas y simplemente confiando en el proceso del día. No
estaba preocupada por los resultados, es decir, el objetive no era
producir un buen cuadro, si no simplemente disfrutar el momento. El
resultado al final fue algo muy relajado, y me parece que se nota. Ese
día hice dos cuadros en el mismo lugar de casi la misma vista, en el
próximo post se los muestro. Es desde un campo al costado de la ruta que baja hacia Ashcroft desde Cache Creek.
Es muy triste pensar que todas
estas laderas se han quemado con
los incendios en la provincia este último mes. Puedo entender completamente
lo rápido que puede desparramarse el fuego con lo seco que está todo.
Con la intención de ayudar con los incendios y a todos los evacuados y afectados, voy a donar al Fondo para Incendios de British Columbia el 50% de lo que yo saque de la venta de cualquier cuadro de Ashcroft durante los meses de Julio y Agosto. Si está
interesado en este, o en cualquier otro de Ashcroft, me avisan a mi o vayan hacia Calla Design y hablen con Janice o Sue.
This is one of the plein air paintings I did a few weeks ago in Ashcroft. Every year they ask us to paint in the town not only the landscape around town and I had already left last year wanting to paint these back alleys that create the most wonderful shapes when the shadows change as the sun moves. The trick this year was to find some shade to stand under and paint as it was very hot. I found some and did 2 painting from the same spot, one in each direction. I am very pleased with the way this one turned out.
This painting is one of the 2 pieces I have in the Alfrescoes 2017 Exhibition showing at Coast Collective until June 25. There is a reception where you can meet lots of the talented artists in the group this Saturday June 17, 1-3 pm. Unfortunately I can't attend as I have a wedding and my son's graduation dinner gala. Everything happens on the same day and Wow, my son's graduating!! Exciting times!

Este es uno de los cuadros que hice al aire libre en Ashcroft hace unas semanas. Todos los años nos piden que pintemos en el centro del pueblo, no solo en las afueras y ya el año pasado me había quedado con las ganas de pintar estos callejones que tienen las sombras mas interesantes a medida que el sol se mueve. Busqué un poco de sombra para pararme y pintar e hice 2 cuadros desde el mismo lugar, uno en cada dirección. Estoy muy contenta con cómo quedó este. |
Este es uno de los dos cuadros que tengo en la Exhibición de los Alfrescoes de 2017 en Coast Collective hasta el 25 de Junio. Va a haber una recepción donde ud puede conocer y charlar con algunos de estos artistas talentosos este sábado 17 de 1 a 3. Desafortunadamente no puedo ir porque tengo un casamiento y la cena de egresados de mi hijo, todo el mismo día. Wow! mi hijo se gradúa! que bueno!!
