TD Art Gallery Paint In 2019: It's Happening again!

 

The time has come again for the wonderful TD Art Gallery Paint In on Moss Street. This year I am #108 and will be on the corner of George and Moss, about a couple of blocks away from Dallas Rd. (55 Moss St to be precise!) It is always a fun-packed event with art for everyone! Keeping fingers crossed for good weather! July 20, 11 till 4. Come and say hi!
 

Ha llegado de nuevo el día de la maravillosa Pintada de la Galería de Arte en la calle Moss. Éste año soy la número 108 y voy a estar en la esquina de George y Moss, a un par de cuadras de la calle Dallas. Es siempre un evento hermoso lleno de arte para todo el mundo! Estamos cruzando los dedos para tener buen tiempo! 20 de julio, de 11 a 4. Pasen a saludar!

I am ready! The 2018 TD Art Gallery Paint In is finally here and I am excited to be a part of it! Each year I do a mock up of my set up in the driveway so that  I know exactly where everything goes when I show up on Saturday morning, there's no deciding where each painting goes or where to put things, all this helps me reduce the stress levels the morning of the event! Over 170 Artists will be at this wonderful outdoor event, you will be able to see many kinds of art, demos and for sure find something to your liking. I'm including a full map and tips for visitors below. I will be artist 116 on Moss Street between May and George.  It is closer to Dallas Rd than to Fort St. The event goes from 11 to 4. Hope to see you there!

 Estoy lista! La Pintada 2018 de la Galería de Arte ha llegado y estoy muy contenta de ser parte de este evento! Todos los años hago un una prueba en mi casa para decidir donde va a ir cada cuadro,  esto me ayuda a tener menos estrés el día del evento! Más de 170 artistas van a participar en este evento maravilloso, usted va a poder ver muchas clases diferentes  de arte, demostraciones y seguro va a poder encontrar algo que les guste. Incluyo abajo un Mapa completo y consejos para la visita. Yo voy a hacer la artista número 116 en la calle Moss entre May y George. Está más cerca de la calle Dallas que de la calle Fort. El evento va de 11 a 4. Espero verlos!

I have donated this painting to the BC Cancer Foundation and their event Jingle Mingle happening on Nov 30th at the Empress Hotel here in Victoria, BC. I painted this one last Spring on Moss Street when the cherry blossoms were out, what a show!! I can hardly wait to paint them again next year!
I love what the Foundation is fundraising for: To be able to purchase a PET-CT Scan  machine so that patients don't have to go to Vancouver for imaging. We have all been touched in some way or other by this horrible disease, either personally or through friends or family. Having a machine in town would make things a lot easier for people on the island. Please consider attending the event, tickets can be purchased at the site above. It should be a good event with a Silent and Live Auction, Raffle and more! This is just my humble contribution to the cause.

He donado este cuadro a la Fundación de Cancer de British Columbia y su evento Jingle Mingle que ocurre el 30 de Noviembre en el Empress Hotel aquí en Victoria. Pinté este cuadro esta primavera pasada en la calle Moss cuando todos los cerezos estaban en flor.  Qué espectaculo!! No veo la hora que vuelvan a florecer este año que viene para pintarlos de nuevo!
Me gustó mucho  el motivo de este evento: para recaudar fondos para comprar una máquina para tomografías en estaría en el hospital de acá, de este modo, los pacientes con cancer no van a tener que ir a Vancouver para hacer estos estudios. Desafortunadamente, el cancer nos ha tocado a todos, de forma directa o indirecta con amigos o familiares. Tener un tomógafo en Victoria sería tanto mejor para las familias que estan pasando por estas dificulatdes. Por favor, consideren ir al evento, las entradas están en venta en el sitio que les muestro arriba, va a estar muy beno, con subastas, rifas y mas! esta es mi humilde contribución para esta causa.

Back a few months ago when it was cold and miserable I bought this beautiful mini rose bush, planted in a terracota pot and put it on my patio table. It was such a hopeful splash of colour at the time! I knew I had to paint it before I cut it back so it would regain its strength. Later on in the Spring, just in the nick of time before they started loosing all the petals, I set up the easel outside by the patio table and enjoyed painting these warm colours.

This one as well as many other paintings, some from my recent painting trip to Ashcroft and previous trips to Hawaii and Mexico will be available at the 2017 TD Moss Street Paint In. I am very honoured to have been selected again this year to be a part of it. This coming Saturday July 15th, from 11 till 4, I'll be at spot #149 in between Minto and Richardson. Hope to see you there, it is a WONDERFUL event attended every year by around 30,000 people, I can guarantee you you'll find a piece of art to your liking since there is everything under the sun! Hace algunos meses cuando hacía todavía bastante frío  compré esta rosa miniatura, la planté en una maceta de terracota y la puse en la mesa del patio. Era un desparrame de color esperanza en ese momento! Sabía que tenía que pintarla antes de que  la podara para que recobrara su vigor y fue así que más adelante en la primavera, justo antes de que empezara a perder los pétalos, armé el atril en el patio y disfruté el pintar estos hermosos colores.

Este cuadro junto con muchos otros, algunos de mi viaje reciente Ashcroft o de viajes previos a Hawái y Mexico van a estar disponibles en la Pintada de Moss Street. Tengo el honor de haber sido seleccionada de nuevo este año para ser parte de este gran evento. Este sábado 15 de julio, de 11:00 a 4:00 de la tarde voy a estar en el lugar #149  entre las calles Minto y Richardson. Espero verlos ahí, es un evento maravilloso al que van alrededor de 30.000 personas todos los años, les puedo garantizar que van a encontrar  arte que les guste ya que hay tanta variedad. I am sorry it took me so long to post this but to be honest, I ended up the day so so tired that it took me a few days to recover  and only today I am finding time to get this post done but Wow! What a great day Moss Street Paint In was! It was wonderful to see old friends, meet new ones and share my art with people. The weather cooperated this year, not too hot, not too cold, not too breezy, just perfect!

Les pido disculpas por cuánto tiempo me ha llevado escribir este post pero para ser honesta, terminé el día tan tan cansada que me llevó un par de días recuperarme y solamente hoy he tenido tiempo para escribirlo pero Wow! Que gran día en la pintada de Moss St! Fue bárbaro ver a viejos amigos, conocer nuevos, y compartir mi arte con la gente. El tiempo cooperó, estuvo muy bueno este año: no mucho calor, no mucho frío, no mucho viento, perfecto!

My lovely daughter Camila helped me set up in the morning and I had help and support from dear hubby and son later on.  It's just amazing how in just a short time the space is totally transformed. 

Mi hermosa hija Camila me ayudó a armar todo esa mañana y tuve la ayuda y apoyo de mi esposo y de mi hijo más tarde. Es simplemente increíble como en tan poco tiempo se transforma totalmente el lugar.

When we get there in the morning, it is complete chaos but I am so happy that again this year I  did a dry-run at home a couple of days before the event. (Idea taken form Crystal Moody's blog a couple of years ago). I had taken pictures  of the set up  so on the morning of the event we knew exactly where everything was going to go. There isn't usually a ton of time to set up (I personally didn't want to go at 6 am to figure out were each painting looked best) so I loved  having that blueprint ahead of time.

Cuando llegamos ahí a la mañana, era caos total pero estoy muy contenta de que este año nuevamente hice una prueba en mi casa un par de día antes del evento. (Esta idea fue tomada de el blog de Crystal Moody hace años hace un par de años). Yo había sacado fotos de dónde iba cada cosa así que esa mañana sabíamos exactamente donde iba cada cuadro. Normalmente no hay mucho tiempo para armar todo (Personalmente no quería ir ahí a las 6:00 de la mañana para tratar de diseñar donde colgar pintura para que queden bien) así que me encantó tener el plan por adelantado.

Thank you so much to all the people that purchased paintings, cards and prints! And thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that stopped by and expressed how much they loved my art, whether they took one home or not,  it just warms my heart to see first hand people's reaction to my art.

Thank you also to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria for organizing this wonderful event and the hundreds of volunteers that make the day possible. More than 30,000 people showed up to soak up the art all around.

Oh and Thank you Opus Art Supplies as well for the goodie bag they dropped off!! Loved it!!

Muchas gracias a toda la gente que compró cuadros y  tarjetas. Y también gracias del fondo de mi corazón a toda la gente que pasó, paró y expresó cuánto le gustaban mis cuadros, ya sea si llevaron uno o no, simplemente me reconforta mucho ver la reacción positiva de la gente.

Gracias también a la galería de arte de Victoria por organizar este evento maravilloso y a los cientos de voluntarios que hacen que este día sea posible. Más de 30.000 personas vinieron a devorar el arte que había por todos lados.

Ah y también gracias a Opus por la bolsita con regalos que me dejaron! Me encantó!!

Well.... the time has come! The 2016 Moss Street Paint In is here and this post is mainly to invite you and remind you about it: When? This Saturday, July 16, 11 to 4 pm. Where?: All along Moss Street you will find art for everyone!  One of the best spots?  #124 at 305 Moss Street in between Franklin and Vimy Pl..... that's where you will find me! Come out and visit, I will have  some of the paintings done in my last couple of plein air trips as well as work produced this year and brand new cards.... I know some of you collect them ;)


I just got back, as some of you know, from a couple of weeks of sailing, I will be sharing some paintings I did during that trip AFTER this event is done!! (We had a great time!!) I had left pretty much everything ready for Saturday before leaving  but I am so glad I have a couple of extra days to make sure it is all really ready. See you Saturday!!

Y bien… Ha llegado el momento! La Pintada de la Calle Moss del 2016 ha llegado y este post es principalmente para invitarlos y recordarles de este evento. Cuando? Este sábado 16 de julio de 11:00 a 4:00. Donde? A lo largo de la Calle Moss, van a encontrar arte para todos gustos! Uno de los mejores lugares? El #124 en la Calle Moss al 305 entre Franklin y Vimy Pl..… Ahí es donde me van a encontrar a mi!!  Vengan a visitarme, voy a tener algunos de los cuadros que hecho en los últimos viajes,  trabajo producido este año y también voy a tener tarjetas nuevas… Yo sé que algunos de ustedes las coleccionan. ;)

Acabo de llegar, como saben algunos de ustedes, de un par de semanas de navegación. Voy a estar compartiendo con ustedes nuestras aventuras y los cuadros que hice en ese viaje después de este sábado que viene.  (La pasamos muy bien!!) Había dejado todo casi listo para este sábado antes de salir pero estoy muy contenta de tener un par de días extra para asegurarme de que todo esté REALMENTE listo. Nos vemos el sábado!!
