This is the last of the flower fields I painted last December. As with the last, it was painted from another reference photo from our trip to Italy a couple of years ago. I love the background and all the colour peaking through behind the sunflowers leaves and stocks.  I did make a couple of changes to this painting before shipping it out of the studio to the exhibition but didn't take a photo of the final version.
This painting along with 27 other ones is on display at the Burning Desire Show up at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre in Duncan until  March 2. Este es el último de los campos con flores que pinté en Diciembre. Como el anterior, lo pinté de fotos que había sacado en nuestro viaje a Italia hace un par de años. Me encanta el fondo de los arbustos y árboles y los diferentes colores que hay por detrás de las hojas y tallos de los girasoles. Le hice un par de cambios mínimos antes de despacharlo hacia una muestra pero me olvidé de sacarle una nueva foto de la versión final, es muy similar de todas formas.
Este cuadro, junto con otros 27 está en exhibición en el muestra "Deseo Ardiente" en el Centro de Teatro en  Duncan hasta el 2 de Marzo. Mandenme un mensaje si tienen plaeado ir a ver la mustra y les puedo dar los horarios que está abierta o vayan a mi sitio de internet donde he marcado los horarios.

A couple of summers ago we spent 5 weeks in Italy, it was of course absolutely wonderful. We rented a car and covered a lot of ground at a nice pace, sometimes we would only travel a couple of hundred kilometres between the places where we spent the night. We stopped in tiny villages to have lunch and walk around. LOVED Italy, we would go back in a second! Eventhough we saw so much, there is still so much more to see.... Going there on a painting trip is on my wish list....
This image was taken in the heart of Tuscany where these patches of sunflowers are just the thing to make you smile instantly. I painted this one back in December as well,   I particularly liked how the distant hills and  tree shapes in the back came together.

Hace un par de año pasamos 5 semanas en Italia, fue absolutamente maravilloso. Alquilamos un auto y recorrimos mucho territorio pero a un buen ritmo, muchos días sólo viajabamos 100 or 200 km entre los lugares donde pasamos la noche, paramos en pueblitos hermosos donde almorzamos y caminamos. Nos ENCANTO Italia, volveríamos en un segundo! A pesar de haber conocido mucho, nos queda todavía tanto por ver.... Ir a pintar a Italia está en mi lista de deseos.....
Esta imágen fue tomada en el corazón de la Toscana, donde estos campos de girasoles son perfectos para hacerte sonreir en el acto. Pinté este cuadro en Diciembre también y me gustó en particular como quedaron las montañas y árboles distantes.
Este cuadro, junto con otros 27 está en exhibición en el muestra "Deseo Ardiente" en el Centro de Teatro en  Duncan hasta el 2 de Marzo.

I had painted this a while back, as part of the 30 paintings in 30 days September 2014. I had it in the  show I had to display all that work and I could have sold it many times over. I took a commission to do it again, a bit bigger this time and I am happy with the way it turned out. I don't usually paint the same painting twice, but it was  interesting to do it again, there is always the fear that it won't turn out this time.  I am pleased I think I see growth from that painting to this one, see the old one  here, :)

Había pintado este cuadro hace un tiempo, como parte del Desafío de 30 en 30 en Septiembre del 2014. Lo había tenido en una muestra de todo ese trabajo y lo podría haber vendido varias veces. Me lo encargaron, un poco mas grande que el otro y estoy contenta con como salió. Normalmente no pinto el mismo cuadro mas de una vez pero fue interesante hacerlo, siempre existe el temor de que no salga bien. Me parece que ha habido desarrollo desde entonces,   aquí pueden verlo el anterior :)

Thank you so much to everyone that came to the 60 Paintings in 30 Days Open House!! It was a great success. It was meant as something informal, a chance to share our artwork with people that had followed our progress and we were overwhelmed by the support. We had way more people than we anticipated. Art chats, visits and sales happened! I sold 5 of my paintings (3 from this challenge and 2 from the first one!) as well as a bunch of cards! Thank you again! What was more exciting though was the fact that many artist friends were walking away feeling totally inspired to go paint! That is music to my ears as that is the way I feel many times when I go look at the work others are producing.  Who knows..... maybe next January we will have more local artists playing! :)

Lunch by the Lake is one of the ones I finished the week after the challenge ended. There you have the before and after shots. I am glad I finished it as it sold this past Saturday - Thank you Monica! Hope you enjoy it! (click here for the story behind this painting)

I have been busy these last couple of days painting something for the Black & White Fundraiser Ball for Coast Collective. There will be paintings for sale but buyers will not know who the artists who painted them are until after they purchase them.  I will post it after Friday which is the day for the Ball (of course I will be attending!) There is still time to get your tickets! Come and support one of our great art destinations in Victoria. You may end up with a original Marcela Strasdas! :D

Muchísimas gracias a todos los que vinieron a nuestra muestra 60 cuadros en 30 días! Fue un gran éxito, la idea era algo informal, una oportunidad para compartir nuestro arte con la gente que nos había estado siguiendo. Tuvimos mucha mas gente de la que esperabamos; hubo charlas de arte, visitas y ventas! Vendí 5 cuadros (3 de este Sep y 2 de Sep 2013)  y un montón de tarjetas! Muchas gracias! Pero mejor todavía fue el echo que muchos artistas amigos se iban diciendo que estaban totalmente inspirados para ira a pintar y eso me encanta ya que así es como me siento yo muchas veces cuando voy a ver el arte que otros producen. Quien sabe.... tal vez en enero tenemos mas artistas que va a jugar con nosotros! :) 

"Almuerzo en el Lago" fue una de las que terminé la primer semana de Octubre. Aquí tienen las fotos del antes y después. Me alegro de haberla terminado ya que la vendí el sábado. - Gracias Monica! Espero que la disfrutes. (acá pueden ver la historia de ese cuadro)

He estado ocupada en estos últimos días pintando algo para "El Baile de Recaudación de Fondos para Coast Collective" . Va a haber cuadros en venta pero los compradores no saben quien es el artista que los pintó hasta después de haberla comprado.  Lo voy a poner en el blog la semana que viene, una vez que el evento haya pasado. Hay tiempo todavía para que compren los tickets para ir y apoyar a una de los lugares artísticos de destino en Victoria. Tal vez terminen con un Marcela Strasdas Original! :D  No vemos ahí!

This is the painting before touching up

This is one of the paintings from the 30 day challenge. The day I painted it I was short on time so I did the so called "37-minute exercise" (Look at Robert Genn's post on this)  Now I was able to see the painting with fresh eyes having as reference all the other paintings from the challenge I was happy with. I tried to add what I felt was missing.  At the beginning I thought I had to correct the buildings, the shapes especially. But I started darkening the darks; of course, the lights got automatically lighter and I felt this was a good direction to take. I have only heard this about a million times but there is nothing like experiencing something to actually go "Ahhhhhhh!!!! THAT is how it works!" You know what I mean? So, we need to remember that many times in order to make something lighter we just make whatever is next to it darker as everything is relative to whatever is next to it. There may not be a lighter light to add to make the work pop so the only option is to go in exactly the opposite direction: daken the darks. I also added some reflections and light in the water, some dark touches on the buildings and I am much more pleased with this painting now. It looks more finished to me. Onto the next one! I will show you in the next posts some other ones I corrected this week.

Esta es una de las pinturas del desafío de 30 días.  El día que la pinté  no tenía mucho tiempo así que hice lo que se llama "un ejercicio de 37 minutos" (Miren el post de Robert Genn sobre este tema) Esta semana pude mirar este cuadro con ojos frescos y teniendo como referencia los que me habían gustado del mes anterior empecé a cambiar algunas cosas. Al principio pensé que tenía que corregir las formas de los edificios, pero fuí en otra dirección y empecé a oscurecer los oscuros. Por supuesto, inmediatamente las luces se veían mas claras. He escuchado esto aporximadamente un millón de veces pero no hay nada mejor que descubrirlo uno mismo y decir: "Ahhhhh!!!!  ASI es como funciona!!" Entienden?  Asi que tenemos que recordar que muchas veces para que algo sea mas claro, tenemos que oscurecer lo que hay al lado ya que todo es relativo a lo que tiene al lado. Tal vez no haya una luz mas clara de la que ya hemos puesto y entonces la única opción es ir en la dirección opuesta: Oscurecer los oscuros. También agregué algunos reflejos y luz en el agua y unos toques oscuros en los edificios. Estoy mucho mas contenta con los resultados. Se vé mas terminada ahora. Seguimos con la próxima! Les voy a mostrar en los próximos días otros cambios que hice en otros cuadros.

A trip to Italy couldn't be complete without some fashion. Milan has a whole district in the historic centre that is ALL about fashion and design. All the famous brands are there with neat window displays, bodyguards and some outrageous prices. Every other city has all these stores, I found these boots in a display in Venice.  I must admit I am not a shopper at all (much to my daughter's demise) but loved seeing the all the glitter and shine on the windows. I came back home to Canada empty handed in the fashion department, a couple of friends  were highly disappointed. :)  It was hard to photograph the wet dark, oil paint, my apologies for that. Are there any special tricks to it that you know of?

Un viaje a Italia no puede estar completo sin un poco de moda. Milán tiene un distrito en el centro histórico que es TODO de moda y diseño. TODAS las marcas grandes y famosas del mundo están ahí con vidrieras interesantes, guardaespaldas y precios exorbitantes. Muchas de las grandes ciudades tienen estos negocios, encontré estas botas en una vidriera de Venecia. Tengo que admitir que no soy de hacer compras (mi hija siempre se queja de eso)  pero me encantó ver todo el brillo en esos negocios. Volví a Canadá con las manos vacías en ese departamento, un par de amigas estuvieron muy desilusionadas. :) Fue difícil fotografiar la pintura húmeda y oscura, mis disculpas. Hay algún truco especial que uds sepan?

I have had this photo of Lago di Como printed for a while  but  didn't tackle it before as  I was worried about the buildings. I tried to not get very tight with it, not thrilled with the results but it was good to try. Actually, now that I think about it I was having more trouble with the colour than with the drawing and design. The reason for it was that I started with a dirty palette from the previous painting and was too lazy to get properly set up to be honest. Lesson learnt with this one: Always start with fresh and paint and palette. Getting to the end of the challenge and I feel I haven't even gone through 10% of the reference material I brought back from Italy. :)

He tenido esta foto del Lago di Como lista para pintar desde el comienzo pero no la ataqué hasta ahora porque estaba preocupada con los edificios. Traté de mantener la espontaneidad, no estoy super contenta pero es un buen comienzo. En realidad, ahora que pienso, no fueron las formas y el diseño que me dieron trabajo sino los colores. La razón de eso fue que empecé con la paleta con los colores que habían sobrado de la pintura anterior y tuve demasiado pereza para arreglar todo de la forma debida para ser honesta. La lección aprendida entonces es: Siempre empezar con pintura y paleta fresca. Estamos llegando al final del desafío y no he llegado a tocar ni un 10%  de las fotos que trade del viaje a Italia. :)

I have wanted to do a painting like this for a long time and this was a test  to see how it would work out. I think that  I need to abstract the shapes a lot more to get it the way I had it in mind but it is a start. This is one of the beauties of this 30 day challenge, we get to try out things without being completely vested on the results as we only put in a few hours.
Going up and down Como Lake in Northern Italy you see communities like this everywhere, they are built on the mountain side and they are just a blur of shapes and colours without a proper focal point or anything that jumps out from  the bunch. That is what I wanted to portray, I just don't know if it is interesting enough. Not sure it works but it was fun.

He querido hacer algo como esto desde hace ya bastante tiempo, esto fue para probar si funciona o no. Creo que tengo que abstraer las formas mas para lograr lo que tenía en mente pero es un comienzo. Esta es una de las mejores cosas de este desafío de 30 días, podemos probar distintos métodos  sin invertir demasiado tiempo.
Se ven vistas como estas por todos lados en el Lago di Como,construídas en la ladera de la montaña, son manchas de distintos colores y formas, sin punto focal ni  cosas que resaltan. Eso es lo que quería representar, no sé si es lo suficientemente interesante. No se si funciona pero fue divertido tratar.

Well..... sometimes things don't go as planned. I started with another painting this morning and it wasn't working. Had some errands to do, (including delivering of day 13 painting to the happy golfer who purchased it, Thank you Richard! I hope you enjoy it!) and by the time I came back there was no way I was able to tackle the perspective lines of the one I was working on. So I chose this little Tuscan landscape, played with colour a bit and day 25 is done! I think I need to add one dark stroke now that I see on the screen, first thing tomorrow. Only 5 more to go (and 4 days!)

Bien..... a veces las cosas no salen como están planeadas. Comencé el día con otra pintura que no estaba funcionando. Tenía algunas cosas que hacer fuera de casa (incluyendo la entrega del cuadro del día 13 al golfista que la compró, Gracias Richard! Espero que la disfrutes!) y no tenía energía a la hora que volví para atacar las líneas de perspectiva que tenía que corregir en el que había empezado esta mañana. Asi que elegí este paisaje Toscano, jugué con colores un rato y listo,  acá está la número 25! Ahora que la veo en la pantalla, veo una línea de somra que tengo que agregar, mañana serálo priemro que hago. Solo quedan 5 cuadros y 4 días!

It is very interesting through this 30 day painting process to observe how I tackle things differently each day according to my mood.  Some days I have the patience to do more detailed and/or precise work, some other days, I should just do big blobs of colour as I have zero patience for correcting!  Today is  the latter. :)
I like the little story that can come up from this scene, we can imagine how many dinners and chats have happened at this table.
This came from a place we stayed at in Tuscany, North of Rome in a tiny town called Scansano close to Maremma. We stayed at a convent (Convento del Preteto) built in the 1300's which has been turned into apartments. Very Cool!

Es muy interesante observar este proceso de 30 días de pintura y cómo cada día es diferente de acuerdo a mis estados de ánico.  Algunos días tengo mucha paciencia para hacer trabajo mas preciso y detallado, otros días, sólo debería hacer manchas grandes de colores y nada más ya que no tengo nada de paciencia para corregir nada! Hoy es uno de esos días!  :)
Me gustan las historias que podemos inventar al ver una imágen como esta, podemos imaginar la cantidad de comidas y charlas que ocurrieron en esta mesa.
Esto salió de un lugar en el que nos alojamos en la Toscana, hacia el Norte de Roma, en este pueblo chiquito llamado Scansano en la zona de Maremma. Pasamos una noche en este convento (Convento del Preteto) construido en los 1300s que fue transformado en departamentos. Muy bueno!

I have been procrastinating to do this painting for the whole 24 days of the challenge, it was on the original bunch I printed.  And there was a reason for avoiding it! Those shadows gave me the grief I expected today and I am not sure I got it totally solved and finished. They kept getting bigger and bigger and it would take a lot of conscious effort to make them go back to the original shape! I was so glad I took a photo at the somewhat beginning stages because it helped me later on to look and say "Hey! What happened?? How did I lose all that great empty space on the wall and filled it with shadows that were not there to begin with?" Will live with it for a few days and look at it with fresh eyes. Lesson today?  Paint more shadows to get them right!  Love the colours though!

This door can be found at a B&B on the hill up to the lighthouse in Brunate, the town above Como. There were tables and chairs under the grapevine overlooking the great view of the city of Como below.

He estado procrastinando todo el mes para hacer esta pintura, estaba dentro del primer grupo de fotos que imprimí para pintar y todavía no lo echo. Había una razón por la que la estaba evadiendo:  Esas sombras me dieron el trabajo que suponía me iban a dar y no estoy segura de que funcionan bien todavía, no se si están terminadas.  Se ponían cada vez más grandes y requirieron mucha atención para traerlas de nuevo al tamaño original. Por suerte había sacado una foto en la etapa inicial  y me ayudó para ver y de repente decir: "Hey! que pasó? Cómo es que perdí todo ese espacio libre en la pared y lo llené con sombras que no existían?" Lo voy a observar por unos días y lo quiero mirar mañana con ojos frescos. La lección del día? Pintar más sombras para aprender!  Me encantan los colores que logré. :)

Esta puerta está en un B&B en la subida hacia el faro en Brunate, el pueblo que está arriba de Como. Había mesas y sillas en el patio debajo de una parra desde donde se veía una gran vista de la ciudad de Como.

Places like this are everywhere in Italy. Old castles, palaces, monasteries with big towers and walls around them which over the centuries have seen many many things and have had many different purposes and lives. Nowadays lots of these places have been turned into apartments, summer homes, hotels.  This is in Moltrasio, one of towns on Como Lake. We came upon it just going up some stairs and exploring the area. From some online research just now I believe it was an old monastery built around the 11th century. I don't know for sure what the purpose of the building is now but it could be someone's "Humble Abode".

I particularly like the contrast of the old and new. The car parked outside the castle, once upon a time it was horses :)

Italia esta llena de lugares como este. Viejos castillos, palacios, monasterios con grandes torres, campanarios y murallas que durante los siglos han visto muchas cosas y han tenido muchas vidas. En el presente, muchos de estos lugares han sido transformados en departamentos, casas de verano, hoteles. Esta imagen es de Moltrasio, uno de los pueblos que están sobre el Lago di Como. Nos encontramos ahí después de explorar un rato subiendo y bajando escaleras. De acuerdo a un poquito de investigación en internet creo que era un antiguo monasterio construído en el siglo XI. No estoy segura de qué es ahora pero tal vez sea la "Humilde Morada" de alguien.
Me gusta en particular el contraste de lo nuevo y lo viejo. El auto estacionado afuera, hace muchos años había caballos afuera, no autos :)

This shot was taken in a little patio in Brunate, which is a very small town above Como City. You get to it by means of a cable car as it is at the top of the mountain. (you can also go by car)  Very nice spot with beautiful views of Como City and the lake. If you ever visit, be prepared to walk endless hills and stairs! We certainly got our workout most days in Italy!

This pots  with Begonias were begging me to paint them, it was fun to paint them. :)

Esta  imágen fue tomada en Brunate, un pequeño pueblo arriba de la ciudad de Como.  Hay que tomar un funicular para llegar ya que está en la punta de la montaña pero también se puede subir por auto. Un lugar hermoso como vistas paroramincas de la Ciudad de Como y del lago. Si alguna visitan este lugar estén preparados para hacer subidas y escaleras eternas! Sí que hicimos ejercicio en Italia casi todos los días!

Estas macetas con begonias me estaban suplicando que las pintara, y por supuesto tuve que hacerlo. :)

Doors, hmmmm I am liking them more and more!

Took the day off from painting yesterday because it was an absolutely gorgeous day and I wanted to enjoy it outside! So that means that I am now again behind. Did 2 today however which gets me almost caught up again. We are in the final run for the challenge with less than 10 days and 10 paintings to go for. I really enjoy doing this, it commits to getting in the studio and I have had many lightbulb moments. A couple of days ago, I took a long look at all the work I have produced in the last few weeks and I was able to see growth and I also able to pin point the works that stood out and why. I can see that some sparkle and some don't and I believe it is because I have been pushing values a bit. I also am able to build upon the experiencies of each day. Thank you Leslie for organizing the 30-day Challenge again!

This door is in the City of Como, in a piazza, next to a couple of restaurants. I can see it in my mind but couldn't probably find it on the map.

Puertas..... Hmmmmm , me están gustando casa vez más!

Me tomé el día ayer y no pinté porque era un día hermoso y quise disfrutarlo afuera. Eso significa que estoy atrazado de nuevo. Hice 2 hoy sin embargo así que estoy de nuevo CASI al día. Ya quedan en el desafío menos  de 10 días. Lo estoy disfrutando mucho de nuevo, me compromete a pintar y he tenido mucho momentos en los que se me prendió la lamparita. Hace un par de días por ejemplo, miré un largo rato todos los trabajos que he producido en este último mes y pude ver crecimiento y pude ver que algunas de las piezas saltan más que las otras. Eso creo que es debido a que estoy empujando los claros oscuros más.  Aprendo cada día más. :) Gracias Leslie pro organizarr de nuevo el Desafio de los 30 Días!

Esta puerta está en la ciudad de Como, en una plaza al lado de unos restaurantes. Puedo verla en mi mente clarita pero no podría encontrarla en el mapa. :)

And here we go with the second one on the doors and windows series. The story behind this one is somewhat of a funny one:

We went for a drive up the left side of Lago di Como all the way up to Menaggio. We stopped in many small beautiful towns along the way and one of them was Laglio. We knew that George Clooney has his villa, but we didn't know where the house was or what it looked like. Little did I know that if I am standing looking at this door, his villa is right behind me. At the time I had no clue! 

There we are, looking around, taking photos of this and that (including his villa) and had no idea. The poor guy is bothered by paparazzi all the time, if he was looking out the window he must have gone: There they are again, those tourists trying to get a glimpse of me! George, if you EVER read this post, we were not, honest! we were just enjoying the scenes. You have a pretty spot there :) Apparently he has had to grow a hedge to have some more privacy. A simple Google search later on showed us we had been right there.  
I had decided I was going to be painting this door well before I knew who the neighbours were, I am pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

Acá va la segunda de la serie de puertas y ventanas. La historia  detrás de este cuadro es un poco graciosa:

Un día fuimos a hacer un paseo por el Lago di Como hasta un pueblo llamado Menaggio. Paramos en varias poblaciones hermosas en el camino  y uno de ellos fue  Laglio. Sabíamos que ahí era donde George Clooney tiene su casa pero no sabíamos dónde ni cómo era. Si estoy de frete mirando a esta puerta que pinté su casa estaba detráas mí pero en su momento no tenía idea de eso. Ahi estamos, sacando fotos de todo (incluyendo su casa) sin tener idea de nada. El pobre tipo es acosado por los paparazzi todo el tiempo y si estaba de casualidad mirando por laventana en ese momento debe haber dicho: Ahi están de nuevo, los turistas siempre tratando de ver donde estoy! George, si ALGUNA vez lees este post, no, no estabamos tratando de verte, de verdad, no teníamos idea, estabamos simplemente disfrutando el lugar. Tenés un lugar muy hermoso ahí :) Aparentemente ha tenido que plantar ligustros para tener un poco mas de privacidad. Una búsqueda simple en el Google unos días después por supuesto nos reveló que habíamos estado al frente de su casa.

Había ya decidido pintar esta puerta sin saber  quiénes eran los vecinos, estoy muy contenta con cómo salió.

Lunch rush - #18 of 30

I bought some new canvases and I am not very pleased with how they perform. It is not a very nice surface to work on. This is meant just as a sketch, I will do it again with better support and more time :) I am leaning a lot in this 30-day challenge. In this particular piece I learnt what NOT to do: Do not paint on surfaces you do not like, you are running uphill the whole time!

Anyway, this is a photo from Vernazza in Cinque Terre that jumped at me this morning and it has 2 elements that you see a lot of in Italy: patio umbrellas and laundry. Every city is full of restaurants that set up umbrellas outside and at lunch time the shade is all some people are looking for (well maybe some pizza too! ). The laundry lines just outside the windows are also so very Italian.

Compré lienzos nuevos y no estoy muy contenta con ellos. No son una buena superficie para pintar. la pieza de hoy es sólo un sketch, la voy a pintar de nuevo con mejores lienzos y más tiempo. :) estoy aprendiendo mucho en este desafio de 30 días; con esta pieza en particular aprendí qué NO hacer: No pintar con lienzos/superficies que no te gusten, es como correr  en subida todo el tiempo!!

Esta foto de Vernazza en Cinque Terre fue la que me atrajo esta mañana, tiene 2 elementos que se ven mucho en Italia: sombrillas y ropa colgada. Todas las ciudades están llenas de restaurantes que sacan las mesas y sombrillas afuera y a la hora del mediodía esa sombra es lo que más busca la gente (bueno, pizza también!) Las sogas con ropa colgada de las ventanas es también muy italiano.

Today I decided to go back to Como Lake. Honestly, I don't remember exactly where the photo was taken but it could be anywhere on the lake. I had fun with this piece and I am enjoying myself a lot with this Italy series. In a way, it makes me go back there all over again! I hope some of these paintings bring back some memories of past travels for you as well. :)
I called it "Timeless" because that is the sense in many of these towns, it's like time doesn't go by and things have been there for a long time.

Hoy decidí volver al Lago di Como. Honestamente no me acuerdo de dónde es esta foto pero puede ser en cualquiera de los pueblos sobre el lago. Disfruté mucho de esta pieza y me está gustando esta serie de Italia. En cierta forma, me hace volver allá y recordar  los hermosos lugares que visitamos. Espero que algunos de estos cuadros también les traigan memorias de viajes pasados. :)
Esta pieza se llama "Parado en el Tiempo" porque esto es lo que parece que pasa en muchos de estos pueblos, es como que el tiempo no pasara y muchas  cosas están ahí desde hace mucho tiempo.

Siguiendo con el miso tema y método de ayer acá tienen unos viñedos. Estoy practicando mucho los verdes en estoy dias. Espero que lo disfruten!

The Olive Grove - #15 of 30

So today was a bit of an experiment and I haven't fully made up my mind about it  yet.  Usually I paint from photos or from life, but I don't make up too much stuff, just paint a glass where there wasn't one for example.  For this one today, I used a couple of photos just as reference plus memory to make this little study. I also had limited time AGAIN so had not much time to fuss with it. I like some things about it but there are some shapes that NEED to be changed and some highlights that need to be added. 

The inspiration for this came from the Florence area. From the Piazalle Michealangelo there are wonderful panoramic views of the whole city. There are some old walls and houses with of course olive trees as well as those very typically Mediterranean trees.  (Italian Stone Pine)

Hoy fue un experimento y todavía no he decidido si estoy satisfecha o no. Normalmente pinto de fotos o de las cosas que tengo adelante, no invento cosas que no están, como por ejemplo, no agrego un vaso si no hay uno en la foto o a la vista. Hoy decidí usar un par de fotos y mi memoria para componer este cuadrito. De nuevo anduve con poco tiempo.  Me gustan algunas cosas pero hay ciertas formas que sí o si tengo que cambiar y tal vez agregue algunas luces. 

La inspiración de hoy vino de fotos tomadas desde Piazzale Michelangelo en Florencia desde donde se ven vistas panoramicas de toda la ciudad. Hay una murallas enormes y casonas en medio de olivares y de esos árboles típicamente del Mediterraneo, el Pino de Piedra Italiano.
