I belong to several organizations and the Island Illustrators Society is one of them. Every year for the last few years they have had an alphabet show which is displayed at the different public libraries  in the city throughout the year. Last year I picked a few  letters and this is one of them. The subject was related to Victoria as a city and the different things that are unique to it. I chose to use Mixed Media, just having fun with old charts, watercolour paper and acrylic paint. I really enjoyed  working on this project!  Y is for Yacht race, referring to the Sailing Race that happens every year in the spring called Swiftsure.

Tomorrow from 10 to 12, I will be representing the IIS at the Nellie McClung Branch on Cedar Hill and Shelbourne where I will show people how to easily turn doodles into interesting designs. Stop by and visit if you have time.

Yo pertenezco a  varias organizaciones y los Ilustradores de la Isla es una de ellas. Todos estos últimos años, se organiza una muestra que rota por las distintas bibliotecas de la ciudad con el abecedario. El año pasado yo elegí 3 letras y esta es una de ellas. El tema era la ciudad de Victoria y las cosas características que tiene u ocurren acá. Elegí usar diferentes materiales como cartas de navegación viejas que tenía, papel de acuela y acrílicos.  Fue muy divertido trabajar en este proyecto. "Y" es para la regata llamada Swiftsure que ocurre todas las primaveras.

Mañana de 10 a 12 voy a estar representando a la Sociedad de Ilustradores de la Isla en la Biblioteca Nellie McLung en la esquina de Shelboure y Cedar Hill.  Voy a mostrar cómo se pueden transformar garabatos en diseños interesantes. Pasen a visitar si tienen tiempo.

I haven't shared a zentangle for a while now and here goes  one I did a few weeks ago. I am trying something different, I did them on paper (as always) but this time I am mounting it on a wooden cradled panel so it can be hung. I'll show you the finished product next time (if it works :)
Settled in is a reflection on being more settled in in our home and a new life in a different part of town. I am trying to connect with people in this area and form a new network of people (not to abandon my old network!!)  There is growth (like new flower beds in my garden!) and it is for sure starting to feel like home. I am slowly pulling out Christmas decorations, waiting for my daughter Camila to get home in a cuple of weeks to do a whole bunch of homey activities with her!

El Secreto: Sigan Adelante

Hace bastante que no les muestro un zentangle y aca va uno que hice hace un par de semanas. Estoy probando algo difernet, lo hice sobre papel, como siempre pero esta vez lo he montado sobre paneles d emadera para poder colgarlos. Les muestro en alguno de los proximos posts  como queda (si queda bien!!)
"Asentada" es una reflexión sobre el estar ya mas asentados en nuetsro nuevo hogar y la vida nueva en una parte diferente de la ciudad. Hay crecimiento  (como nuevos canteros en mi patio) y ya nos estamos sientiendo mas en "casa". Estoy tratando de conectarme con gente en esta zona y armar una red de amistades (sin olvidarme de las amistades antiguas!!) De a poco estoy sacando las decoraciones de Navidad, estoyesperando a que mi hija vuelva de Vancouver para hacer con ella un montón de actividades navideñas!

A Year of Art Making: November - Month 2

November - Month 2 of A Year of Art Making
Noviembre - Mes 2 del Año de Hacer Arte

A few days ago marked the end of the second month of my 260 Days of Art Making Project. I love to pause and actually take stock of what I did accomplish during this time! So far I had been feeling I hadn't gotten as much done these past 30 days BUT when you actually sit down and look..... it's not bad! Not everything is show-worthy of course but that is not what it is all about at the moment.  Not everything fit in the collage so I left a few pieces out.

So I am just plugging along with my commitment to a year of disciplined art habits. I am learning to recognize my own patterns and the fact that it is ok to have days that are less creative or rather, days in which not as much gets accomplished. In the end though,  when you do tally up, it all adds up.
I need  to find the best way of organizing the day. Sometimes I paint first and then do the "office" side, like blogging and posting. Sometimes I do it the other way around. Don't knowwhat I prefer yet.... What I am finding is that it IS true that you DO spend a lot of time doing those other things that are related to painting, just as I hear lots of successful and experienced artists say.

This is what happened this last month:

- I created 26 days out of 30
- I blogged and posted on social media at least twice a week for the whole month. (less than last month but still ok for me)

- Finished 3 small paintings from plein air or from photographs

- Did 2 small paintings from life

- Did 4 zentangles

- Did 4 zentangles on Bird Houses

- Did 6 abstract colour studies
- Did drawings/illustrations and sketches

- Did 5+ mixed media projects

- Attended a Calligraphy class and a weekend workshop on Mixed Media.

- Painted a T-shirt for my son's Halloween costume!! ;)
- Published my first newsletter. Something that has been on my to-do list for quite a while and finally took the time to learn how to do it!  (If you are not on the mailing list for it, you can sign up right here)

I am pleased that I am exploring as I wanted and I am working on improving my skills all the time. I am going to count monthly from now on as it seems easier. I am on day 56 of 260 though..... getting to a quarter of the way there???

Hace algunos días concluyó el segundo mes de mi proyecto 260 Días de Hacer Arte. Me encanta pausar y ver lo que he echo durante este tiempo! Hasta ahora  me parecía que no había echo tanto como el mes anterior PERO cuando uno se sienta y evalúa la verdad es que no está tan mal! No todo es para mandar a exhibiciones por supuesto, pero eso  no es lo que estoy enfocada en este momento. No entró todo lo que hice en  este collage que puse arriba, dejé algunas pieza afuera.

Asi es que sigo en marcha  con mi determinación de hacer un Año de Disciplina de Hábitos Creativos. Estoy aprendiendo a reconocer mis ritmos y el aceptar que es ok tener días en los que no se logra demasiado. Al final, cuando uno cuenta, todo suma. Necesito encontrar la mejor forma de organizar el día. A veces pinto primero y después hago las tareas de "oficina", como el blog. Y a veces lo hago al revés. No se todavía qué prefiero. Lo que sí estoy encontrando es que es verdad que todas esas otras tareas relacionadas con mi pintura llevan mucho tiempo, como he escuchado que dicen a muchos artistas con éxito y experiencia.

Esto es lo que conseguí hacer este mes pasado:

- Creé arte 26 días de los 30.

- Escribí el blog y en medios sociales de forma consistente todo el mes. (Por lo menos dos veces por semana, menos que el mes anterior, pero suficiente para mi)
- Terminé 3 cuadros de fotos 

- Hice 2 cuadros  de naturalezas muertas en el taller.

- Hice 4 zentangles

- Hice 4 zentangles en casitas para pájaros. 

- Hice dibujos, ilustraciones y bosquejos 

- Hice 5 omas trabajos de media mezclada.
- Fui a una clase de caligrafía  y a un curso de un fin de semana para aprender sobre Medios Mezclados. 

- Pinté en una remera para el disfraz de Halloween de mi hijo, ;)

- Publiqué mi primera carta de noticias, algo que hace mucho tiempo que tenía en mi lista y finalmente le dediqué el tiempo para aprender a hacerlo. (Si no están en la lista, pueden anotarse acá, pero es una carta en inglés por  ahora. Voy a ver de crear la misma en español y les aviso para que se anoten en esa lista )

Estoy contenta porque estoy explorando como yo quería y sigo trabajando para mejorar mis habilidades. Voy a empezar a contar por mes de ahora en adelante. Voy por el día 56 de 260.... Ya casi tengo un cuarto echo!??!!  Muy contenta!!

YAY ME!!!! - 27 of 260 done!

So, Yesterday Oct 25 marked 30 calendar days from the start of my 260 Days of Art Making Project and am I excited about it all or what!!????

This is what happened (I LOVE counting and being able to quantify this way!)
- I created 27 days out of 30
- I blogged and posted on social media consistenly for the whole month.

- Finished 10 small paintings from plein air or from photographs

- Did 4 small paintings from life

- Wiped one plein air

- Did 4 zentangles

- Did 4 drawings/illustrations

- Did 2 drawings/sketches

- Did 3 mixed media projects 

I am so so happy with everything I got to do this past month. It's time now to take a look and see if I want to change anything or not to make things work better.  The one thing I will change is I'll go down to posting 3 times a week instead of 5 (it takes me a long tome to get each post ready to publish!)  I also want to tackle some bigger works and go out to do more plein air. I am VERY excited to see what next brings :) I haven't posted all the images you see in the collage, will get to that in the next few posts.

Ayer marqué 30 días de calendario desde que comencé el proyecto de 260 Días de Hacer Arte y estoy tan contenta!!

Esto fue lo que ocurrió:

- Creé arte 27 días de los 30.

- Escribí el blog y en medios sociales de forma consistente todo el mes.
- Terminé 10 cuadros de fotos o empezados al aire libre

- Hice 4 cuadros  de naturalezas muertas en el taller.

- Borré un cuadro que hice al aire libre. 

- Hice 4 zentangles

- Hice 4 dibujos/ilustraciones

- Hice 2 dibujos/bosquejos
- Hice 3 trabajos de media mezclada.

Estoy tan tan contenta y satisfecha con todo lo que logré hacer este mes pasado. Ahora es tiempo de ver qué funcionó y qué no funcionó para hcer los cambios necesarios. Lo que ya se que voy a cambiar es voy a escribir  en este blog 3 veces por semana en lugar de 5 (escribir cada blog me lleva mucho tiempo normalmente). Quiero además hacer algunas piezas de mayor tamaÑo y quiero pintar al aire libre más a menudo. Estoy  MUY entusiasmada con  ver qué logro este mes  que viene!! :)

No he publicado todas las imágenes que ven en el collage de arriba, voy a publicarlas en los próximos posts.

Determination - Day 5 of 260

This one is called "Determination" because that day I was very very busy and despite that, I still did a drawing very late at night before going to sleep.   I am determined to make this project work. With that in mind.... I am keeping it VERY short today to go paint as I have been  under the weather these last few days, that cold going around got me too and I didn't get to paint yesterday or Friday.  Happy Monday!

Este se llama "Determinación" porque ese día había estado muy muy ocupada y a pesar de eso, hice un dibujo a última hora  antes de ir a dormir. Quiero que este proyecto funcione!. Y con estas palabras, la voy a hacer muy corta hoy ya para ir a pintar ya que estos últimos días he estado engripada y no pinté ayer o el viernes. Feliz Lunes a todos!

"Showing Up" was done on Day 3 of the 260 Days of Art Making.  Had no time that day for a longer painting session and I really enjoy the meditative aspect of zentangling. I did it on a piece of watercolour paper and I am not sure I'll keep using that as I didn't enjoy the texture on the paper, I much prefer the smoothness of hot press paper.
Showing up is the answer to so many things, getting better at your art, marketing, getting healthier and stronger. If we do things for only a couple of days and then stop,  whether that is do a drawing, a plein air painting, try to lose weight or run a marathon, we will not see good results. We have to put the effort with dedication.
I asked Stephen Quiller at the workshop in August: "If you were to give me one piece  of advice for me to follow to get better at my art, what would that be?"  His answer: "Show up. I just kept showing up at the studio and don't stop". Same with Jeanne Bessette a couple of weeks before, her answer was: "You have to put the devotion into your work to get better". I get the same answer when I talk to or observe artists I admire. Have you heard of  the 10,000 hours? It is said that if you put 10,000 hours into something, be it golf, painting or cooking, anything, you will master it. THAT is my motivation to do this year long project. Plain and simple. I just want to get better. How about you? What are you committed to?

Hice "Aparecer" el Día 3 de los 260 Días de Hacer Arte.  No tuve tiempo ese día para una sesión más larga de pintura y disfruto mucho el aspecto meditativo del zentangle. Lo hice en un pedazo de papel de acuarela  y  no creo que lo use de nuevo para esto ya que no me gustó la textura del papel, prefiero papeles mas lisos para dibujar con tinta.

Aparecer (o estar presente o atender, no sé muy bien cómo traducir esto) es la respuesta para muchas cosas. No podemos esperar resultados positivos si hacemos algo solamente uno o dos día, ya sea pintar, dibujar, tratar de bajar de peso o entrenar para una maratón. Tenemos que seguir haciendo con dedicación.

Le pregunté a Stephen Quiller en el curso en Agosto: "Si me tuvieras que dar un consejo para mejorar mi pintura, cuál sería?". Su respuesta: "Aparecé, yo simplemente seguí apareciendo en el taller y no paré". Lo mismo me dijo Jean Bessette, en el retiro en Agosto, su respuesta fue: "Tenés que poner devoción en tu arte para mejorar". Recibo la misma respuesta cuando hablo u observo artistas que yo admiro. Han escuchado algunas vez a alguien hablar de las 10.000 horas? Se dice que si uno pone 10.000 horas en algo, lo que sea, golf, cocina o pintura, uno se va a transformar en maestro de esa disciplina. ESA es mi motivación para el proyecto de este año. Simple. Quiero mejorar. Y vos? Estás comprometido a qué?

I was very excited when I got invited to participate in this show at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. The show is called "Captured Flight" and there will be bird art on the walls and dozens of bird houses painted and decorated by local artists. I decided to do mine with Zentangles as I have been wanting to incorporate them into other things not just paper by themselves. I am very happy with the result, I think I want to make more!


The show runs June 12 to July 5th at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, 1040 Moss Street, 10 to 5 pm except for Sundays which is 12 to 5 pm.

There is an Opening Reception this coming Saturday June 13, from 2 to 4pm. I will be there  for the opening, I am very exited to see all the birdhouses! Do stop by and say hi if you are in the area!

Me puse muy contenta cuando me invitaron a participar en esta muestra en la Galería de Arte de Victoria. La exhibición se llama "Vuelo Capturado" y va a haber arte de aves en las paredes y docenas de casitas para pájaros pintadas y decoradas por artistas locales. Decidí hacer la mía con Zentangles ya que hacía tiempo que quería aplicar la técnica para algo mas que papel. Estoy muy satisfecha con los resultados, me parece que quiero hacer mas!
La muestra corre desde el 12 Junio al 5 de Julio, en la  Galería de Arte de Victoria. Hay una recepción de apertura este Sábado 13 de Junio de 2 a 4 de la tardeen la que voy a estar. Tengo muchas ganas de ver todas las casitas. Pasen y saluden  si pueden!

Growing Well

"Creciendo Bien"

Wow!!! The move is done and what a lot of work it was! That is why I have been absent these last couple of weeks.  Moving day was a bit of a gong show when the movers didn't show up, we had a dismantled house, ready  to go and  they didn't come until 6pm (from 9am that them were supposed to). In the end, it all worked out of course, mainly thanks to some friends that came to help us! The week after moving  was spent finishing getting our house ready to go on the market. Finally a couple of  Mondays ago it got listed and it is great to be able to concentrate on the new house now. We will live among boxes for a while but I don't mind. I prefer to wait and see what the best spot for something is rather than shoving things in cupboards just to get them out sight!

The new studio will be/is absolutely perfect. I have been slowly deciding where everything goes.  I will be able to have different areas set up all the time according to what I need to do. It is such a luxury to have so much space!! Here are a couple of photos of the mess before starting to sort things out and a few areas that are starting to take shape. LOVING it here! Looking forward to spending a lot of time creating.

This zentangle was done before moving and I quite like it. I have been working with Zentangles this week on a special project I will share with you when I am done:)

Wow!!! La mudanza está echa y cuánto trabajo que fué! Es por eso que he estado ausente estas últimas semanas. El día de la mudanza fue un desastre, la empresa que habíamos contratado no apareció cuando habían dicho, supuestamente a las 9 de la mañana. Teníamos una casa desarmada y lista para trasladar y no vinieron hasta las 6 de la tarde. Al final por supuesto que todo anduvo bien gracias a amigos que vinieron a ayudarnos.  La semana siguiente a la mudanza la pasamos en la casa vieja, limpiando y preparándola para venderla. Finalment hace un par de Lunes se puso en venta y ahora podemos dedicarnos a organizar la casa nueva. Vamos a vivir entre cajas durante un tiempo pero no me importa ya que prefiero esperar y encontrar el lugar adecuado para cada cosa en lugar de poner cosas en armarios sin ton ni son simplemente para que estén fuera de vista.
Mi nuevo taller va a ser/es absolutamente perfecto. He estado decidiendo dónde va cada cosa. Voy a poder tener distintas secciones dedicadas para distintas actividades. Es un lujo tener tanto espacio!! Aquí tienen un par de fotos del lío antes de empezar a ordenar y otras de algunas areas que ya están empezando a tomar forma. Me ENCANTA este lugar! Muy contenta de poder pasar mucho tiempo acá en el futuro.
Este zentangle fue echo antes de la mudanza y me gusta bastante. Estoy trabajndo con zentangles en un proyecto especial que les voy a mostrar una vez que lo tenga terminado. :)

Well.... the time has come. After months of looking and weeks of packing and getting ready, the big move day has arrived: tomorrow Saturday. We are excited to get to the new house and experience a different part of town. I am anxious to turn the new house into our home as I am having a hard time with leaving this one we ave been in for the last 12 years. We built it  from scratch, did lots of it ourselves. The yard was non-existent and I love what we created here. It has a lot of personality and lots and lots of hours in it (as well as truck loads of soil). It is the home my kids grew up in, the one they will remember when thinking of their childhod. We build many wonderful friendships and memories,  we are so thankful for it all. I am sure we will create many great memories in the new house as well. Now off to keep  packing, lots to do today!!

Y bien,.... el momento ha llegado. Después de meses de búsqueda y semanas de preparación, el gran día de la mudanza ha llegado: Mañana Sábado 25 de abril. Estamos muy entusiasmados con la nueva casa y con conocer otra zona de la ciudad. Yo estoy ansiosa por tranformar la casa que compramos en nuestro hogar ya que me está resultando bastante difícil dejar esta casa en la que hemos estado durante 12 años. La construímos entera, hicimos mucho nosotros mismos. El jardín no existía y me encanta lo que creamos, tiene mucha personalidad y muchas muchas horas de trabajo (y camionadas de tierra!!). Es el lugar donde mis hijos crecieron y el que van a recordar de su niñez. Encontramos muchas amistades hermosas y estamos muy agradecidos por todo esto. Estoy segura de que vamos a poder construir muchas buenas memorias en nuestro nuevo hogar.... A seguir armando cajas, tengo mucho por hacer hoy!

This is a zentangle from the last few weeks. It is what I do when I don't have time to get into the studio and it allows me to still use my creativity without huge chunks of time, materials and set up.  The title comes from  connecting the designs by following some of the same lines with different patterns. Hope you enjoy!
I had committed to attending a workshop with Gaye Adams this weekend and I am very excited about it even when I am so busy with packing for the move next week. Gaye is a very talented artist with lots of experience whose work I admire and it will be a privilege to spend a weekend with her and a few friends who I know are attending as well.

Este es un Zentangle que hice hace un par de semanas. Es lo que hago cunado no tengo tiempo de estar en el taller y me permite usar mi creatividad con poco tiempo disponible, pocos materiales y sin gran equipamiento.  El título viene de conectar los diseños siguiendo algunas de las mismas líeas y usando diferentes formas. Espero que les guste!
Hace tiempo me había compremetido a asistir a un curso con Gaye Adams este fin de semana y estoy muy entusiasmada con eso aún cuando estoy re-ocupada poniendo mi casa en cajas para mudarnos la semana que viene. Gaye es una artista con mucho talento y experiencia que yo admiro mucho. Va a ser un privilegio pasar el fin de semana con ella y con otros artistas amigos que se que van a este curso también.

Keeping On and Moving On

Keeping On

I finished the last post by mentioning I had exciting news so I think I'll start with that today. We have for some time now been looking for a house and we finally found THE one that fits our needs and we like!!! Finally!! We looked at about 100 houses!  It has a lot more space, it is very close to the kids' school and activities and the best part of all is that it has a great space for my studio, full of natural light! We are very excited about the change and quite sad about leaving the beautiful place we are in now. We have been here for 12 years, we built this house ourselves and put many hours and much love and work to turn it into our home. But the time has come and we are embracing it! Needless to say, my painting time is quite limited or non-existent, my studio is half packed BUT I am committed to still do creative things and drawing is something that I can continue to do on a regular basis. I am actually going into the studio right now to finish a painting I need t have ready for a show on Thursday. This little zentangle  was cretated a couple of weeks ago and I quite like the organic shapes that emerged. More good news to come in the next post! Can't use them all up at once! :)

Terminé el post anterior diciendo que tenía buenas noticias  y hoy voy a empezar con eso! Hace un tiempo ya que estamos buscando casa y finalmente encontramos una que  sirve para nuestras necesidades y que nos gusta! Tenemos mucho mas espacio, está muy cerca de la escuela y actividades de los chicos y la mejor parte es que tiene un taller hermoso para mí lleno de luz natural! Estamos muy entusiasmados con el cambio y a la vez tristes de dejar este  hermoso lugar en el que vivimos ahora. Hemos estado en esta casa durate 12 años, la construímos nosotros y hemos puesto mucho amor, trabajo y horas para tranformarla en nuestro hogar. Pero ha llegado el momento de seguir adelante y estamos listos! Demás está decir que no tengo mucho o nada de tiempo para pintar en este momento, mi taller está ya la mitad en cajas pero voy a seguir dibujando y creando  cada minuto que pueda. Apenas termino de escribir esto voy a terminar un cuadro que tengo que tener listo para una muestra que comienza el jueves. Este zentangle fue creado hace un par de semanas y la verdad es que me gustan bastante las formas organicas que aparecieron. Tengo mas buenas noticias en mi próximo post! No puedo contarles todas las noticias juntas!!

January Collage

Well.... I can't say that I did super well, managed to do 9 zentangles only but it is better than none which was what I thought I would be able to do at the beginning of December. I did do as well a whole bunch of sketches and drawings that I never posted. More important than anything, I learnt something new that I am sure I'll be able to apply in my artwork.
Thank you for your support and encouragement. It was wonderful to follow the posts of so many artists that jumped right in and were able to play with their art for a concentrated period of time. I do believe it does make a big difference in the quality of what you produce as an artist. Thank you Leslie Saeta for hosting it again. I hope you decide to do it again in September!

Bueno..... No puedo decir que anduve bárbaro, alcancé  a hacer 9 zentangles solamente pero es mejor que nada, que es lo que creí que iba a poder hacer en realidad al principio de Diciembre. Hice también varios dibujos y bosquejos que nunca publiqué. Lo mas importante de todo es que aprendí algo nuevo que estoy segura voy a poder aplicar en mi arte.
Gracias a todos por el apoyo y aliento. Fue maravilloso seguir el progreso de tantos artistas que participaron y jugaron con su arte durante este periodo concentrado e intenso. I have been drawing but I haven't been posting. Life has changed again:  we are readjusting to being back home and Mateo, my son, getting slowly back into school. I am mainly a schedule coordinator and taxi driver now! (Which is a great thing, I am not complaining! He is doing extremely well, re-inserting back into regular life!) The thing is that I am running on a very low battery these days, probably just the stress of it all catching up with me so even when I may have the time to paint here and there, honestly I don't have the energy for it at the moment.  Have been drawing and sketching though and enjoying it.

He estado dibujando pero no estado esribiendo en el blog. La vida ha cambiado de nuevo ahora que mi hijo Mateo ya no está en el hospital, está de vuelta en casa y recomenzando de nuevo muy lentamente con la escuela. Ahora yo soy coordinadora de horarios y taxista! (lo que es buenísimo, no me quejo! Está excepcionalmente bien, re insertandose en la vida normal) La cosa es que ando con pocas baterías estos días, probablemente el estrés de todo lo que he vivido en los últimos dos meses.  A pesar de tener un poquito de tiempo disponible no tengo energía para pintar honestamente. Sí he estado dibujando y haciendo bosquejos y lo estoy disfrutando mucho.


I started this zentangle (the one below) a few days ago and I was really liking it until towards the end  I chose the wrong pattern. It completely changed the look of it all and I didn't like it too much any more  but I learnt a lot about  transitioning from one pattern to another. I also chose to leave the sides straight which made it very static.

Comencé este zentangle hace unos días (el que está abajo) y me estaba gustando hasta que casi al final le agregué el diseño equivocado. Cambió el dibujo por completo y no me gustó más pero aprendí mucho sobre cómo hacer funcionar las transiciones de un diseño a otro. Además había decidido que los costados fueran derechos lo que hizo que todo fuera muy estático.

Then I said ok, I like some of what happened here so I started again using those elements I liked, changed a few things and thought putting the one at the top was a great idea...... hmmmm, not so much. It gave me the instant feeling of oppression and barb wire (who knows where that came from, but it makes me think of a chicken coop!)  See the photo below.

Así que dije bueno, me gustan algunas de las cosas que pasaron acá y comencé otro usando esos elementos que me habían gustado, cambié algunas cosas y me pareció que usar el diseño de arriba era una gran idea.... Hmmmmm, no tanto. Me dió la sensación de opresión y alambrado (quien sabe de donde salió esa idea, me hace pensar en un gallinero!) Es la imagen de abajo.

Then I decided to go at it again, that is how I got to the one at the top of the page, the one  I am pleased with.   What do you think? Which one is your favourite and do any of them make you think or feel anything in particular?

Finalmente decidí hacerlo de nuevo y así es como llegue al que esta arriba de la página, el que me gusta . Qué les parece? Cual les gusta mas y les hacen pensar en algo en especial?

 This is my favourite so far... I was trying to use organic shapes and landscape as inspiration and I ended up with this design that makes me think of the ocean and under water. In order to learn about zentangling I have been following a book called "One Zentangle a Day" by Beckah Krahula. I am going through the chapters, learning new patterns and then producing a daily (or not so daily) zentangle. There is wealth of information on internet of course for anyone interested in starting out. Wouldn't some of these designs look great incorporated into semi abstract larger mixed media pieces???? Hmmmm...... My wheels are turning!

(Update on my son: He is is doing SOOOO well. We may know tomorrow his discharge date from the hospital, it was tentatively booked for Feb 5 but he is doing so we've been told they will move it earlier. He started today doing some school work, we will see how he does and progressively increase the load. He is walking without crutches and we see light at the end of the tunnel. Life is good :)

Este es mi favorito hasta ahora. Estaba tratando de usar formas orgánicas y el paisaje como inspiración y terminé con este diseño que me hace pensar en el océano y todo debajo del agua.  Para aprender sobre el "Zentangle" estoy siguiendo un libro que se llama "Un Zentangle por Día" por Becka Krahula. Hago los capítulos, aprendo nuevos diseños y produzco un zentagle diario (o no tan diario). No estarían muy buenos algunos de estos diseños incorporados a trabajos semi abstractos mas grandes????? Hmmmm....... se me vienen un montón de ideas!

(Noticias de mi hijo: anda TAN bien!!! Mañana tal vez sepamos si le dan de alta en los próximos días, esa fecha estaba tentativamente marcada para el 5 de Febrero pero como anda tan bien, nos han dicho que van a adelantar esa fecha. Hoy él comenzó a hacer un poco de deberes para la escuela, vamos a ver cómo responde y  si se puede de a poco aumentar la cantidad. Está ya caminando sin muletas ni bastones y finalmente vemos la luz al final del tunel. La vida es buena. :)

This is today's offering. I wanted to use the same main "characters" as yesterday, I wasn't happy with one particular tangle I had added and I wanted to explore them further. It's ok but I don't love it. The name today comes from a moment this evening. While I was sitting here doing this tangle, my son was next to me doing homework he had brought from the hospital, some concentration and focusing exercises. At one point I thought, Thank you God, as I have said SO many times in the last few weeks. A big sense of gratefulness comes over one at times. I am grateful he is here with us and grateful he is performing regular activities. And I know things will only get better! :)

Este es el ofrecimiento de hoy. Quería usar los mismos "personajes" de ayer ya que no había estado contenta con un diseño en particular y quería explorarlos un poco mas. Está bien pero no me encanta. El nombre de hoy vino de un momento esta noche. Estaba sentada acá y mientras hacía este  zentangle my hijo estaba al lado mío haciendo sus deberes que trajo del hospital, ejercicios para concentración y focalización. En un momento pensé: Gracias Dios!, como he dicho TANTAS veces estas semanas pasadas. Un gran sentimiento de agradecimiento me viene a menudo. Agradecida no solo de que esté con nosotros y agradecida de que pueda realizar actividades normales. Y se que las cosas se van a poner cada día mejor!  :)
