We are traveling a bit further North with today's painting onto
Desolation Sound Marine Park. We have been to this park several times and this is the first time we stay in this cove,
Prideaux Haven. It is absolutely spectacular and very peaceful even when it is busy with other boats as it is a very popular anchorage. This painting didn't have much to change but some details. One of the things about these series of paintings is that I need to remember they are plein-air sketches and when I bring them back to the studio I know I need to correct some things, add some highlights or darken some darks but I have resist the urge to completely change the painting as then it looses the freshness of the plein air study. I need to start turning some of my favourites into more developed studio paintings..... This may be one of them :) We were there for July 4, and the American boaters in the cove had their own Independence Day celebration! The kids on those dinghies were loving it, they had flags, balloons and music and they went all over the different coves sharing their excitement. My photos are very bad but they show a good memory!

Con este cuadro de hoy estamos viajando un poquito más al norte hacia la zona del
Parque Marino Desolation Sound. Hemos estado varias veces en este parque pero esta es la primera vez que paramos en esta bahía,
Prideaux Haven. Es absolutamente espectacular y es muy tranquilo aún cuando normalmente hay muchas embarcaciones ya que es un anclaje bastante popular. Este cuadro no necesitaba muchos cambios, solamente algunos detalles. Una de las cosas que tengo que recordar con respecto a esta serie de cuadros es que son bosquejos al aire libre y cuando los traigo al taller sé que necesito corregir algunas cosas, agregar algunas luces o sombras pero tengo que resistir la tendencia a tratar de cambiar completamente el cuadro ya que de esa manera pierde la frescura o la espontaneidad de un bosquejo al aire libre. Tengo que tratar de empezar a convertir estos estudios en cuadros mas grandes y desarrollados en el taller. Estuvimos en este lugar para el 4 de Julio, que es el día de la Independencia de Estados Unidos. Algunas personas de EEUU en la bahía organizaron su propia celebración para este día. Los chicos a los chicos les encantaban, tenían banderas, globos y música y fueron por todas las distintas vayas compartiendo su alegría. Mis fotos son muy malas pero muestran buenas memorias! Los chicos en esas lanchas estaban tan contentos! tenían banderas, globos y música y dieron vueltas por todas las diferentes bahías compartiendo su alegría.
