I am so enjoying this series of paintings..... Having lots of fun with building up the layers and seeing where each painting goes. Again, it needs to rest and I'll look at it again with fresh eyes in the morning.  Short and sweet today as it was a very long day packed full of appointments, meetings, painting, kitchen reno (New window is in!) and digging in the yard. Time to call it a day, good night!

Estoy disfrutando tanto de esta serie de cuadros,  disfrutando de construir cada capa y ver hacia donde va cada pintura. Como la anterior, tiene que descansar y la voy a mirar de nuevo mañana a la mañana con ojos frescos. Hoy la hago corta y dulce ya que ha sido un día muy largo lleno de reuniones, pintura, remodelación de cocina (la ventana de la cocina está instalada!) y trabajo en el jardín. Es hora de terminar el día, buenas noches!
PD: Vamos a la mitad del desafío ya!!!!

This painting is one of the ones I was working on yesterday, I went back into it today and even though I wanted to keep going I couldn't change too much as this painting is sold and I needed to keep lots of what the client originally saw at the half way point. I have taken it to a spot where I can live with it.... but now that I see it online.... I may have to go back in it again just a few touches.... It's very hard to capture the true colours through the photograph  (It's like I am talking to myself in the post.... bear with me please!)  :/  I hope she still likes it when I deliver it! Thank you Helen, can't wait till you see it!

Trabajé en este cuadro ayer y hoy lo terminé. A pesar de que quería seguir, no podía cambiar demasiadas cosas ya que este cuadro ya está vendido y necesito mantener mucho de lo que la clienta originalmente vio. Lo he llevado a un punto que es satisfactorio… Pero ahora que lo veo en la computadora… Creo que tengo que volver y agregar unos toques… Es muy difícil capturar los colores correctos en la foto. (Es como me estoy hablando a mi misma en el post, disculpas) :/  Espero que todavía le guste a mi clienta cuando lo entregue! Gracias Helen, estoy ansiosa por que lo veas!

I am so happy I have 2 paintings accepted into the Federation of Canadian Artists 2015 Juried Fall Show!!!  They are Witness (above)  and Thankful, my tribute to Thanksgiving I showed here. 

I painted Witness back in the Spring which I hadn't shown before and it is an image of a Totem Pole in Thunderbird Park , downtown Victoria. There are many totem poles in the city, carved by native artists throughout time. They are beautiful pieces of art and they carry wonderful stories with them. I called this one Witness because it's been there for so many years and I imagine it has witnessed many many things, from tourists strolling, taking photos to seasons, storms, generations.... I will have to go and find out the story behind this one maybe. Wonder where I go for that?

Show runs from  Oct 30 to Nov 26 and it is held at  Goward House, 2495 Arbutus Road.  There is a show opening reception Sun Nov 1, 2-4 pm. Unfortunately I don't think I can be there as I will probably be out of town.  (Remember to switch your clocks on Sunday for Daylight Savings!) Please note Goward House is open Monday to Friday  9-4 pm.

Estoy muy contenta  de tener 2 cuadros aceptados en la Muestra de Otoño-2015- de la Federación de Artistas Canadienses!!  Ellos son "Testigo" (arriba) y "Agradecida", mi tributo al Día de Acción de Gracias que les mostré aquí. 

Pinté "Testigo" en la primavera y es una imágen de un Totem que esté en el Parque Thunderbird en el centro de Victoria.   Hay muchos totems por toda la ciudad, creados por artistas nativos . Son hermosas piezas de arte que cuentan historias locales. Titulé esta pieza "Testigo" ya que este totem está ahí desde hace muchos años y me imagino que ha sido testigo de tantas, tantas cosas: desde turistas , paseando y sacando fotos  a estaciones del año, tormentas, generaciones....  Voy a tener que tratar de averiguar el cuento de este. Me pregunto dónde puedo averiguar eso?

La muestra va desde el 30 de Octubre hasta el 26 de Noviembre, en la Casa Goward, 2495 Arbutus Rd. Hay una recepción de artistas el Domingo 1 de Noviembre de 2 a 4. Lamentablemente creo que no puedo ir ya que no voy a estar en Victoria. (Recuerden cambiar los relojes una hora el domingo!! Por favor tengan en cuenta que Goward House está abierta de Lunes a Viernes de 9 a 4 .
