Fall Gifts

"Fall Gifts" - 6x8 - Oil on Birch Panel
"Regalos de Otoño" - 15x20
$120
(Unframed)

Available at Calla Designs on Estevan Village

At the end of September I painted a couple of small florals from life at the end of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. I loved painting them and as always I learn so much through the process of painting from life and not photos that  I have continued with the same format a few more times. These beautiful rusty hydrangeas were brought to Coast Collective by Evol, a sweet wonderful artist who ALWAYS brings flowers to have on display. Last time I was there for a demo, I knew she would have taken flowers as she always does, so I didn't even bother bringing anything else to paint. Very happy with how they turned out! Thank you Evol!!!

This painting is on display at Calla Design on Estevan Village, a WONDERFUL store full of elegant furnishings, accents and original art. Do go and enjoy it! 2541 Estevan Avenue in Oak Bay (778.265.8002)

Pasen y disfruten! 2541 Estevan Avenue en  Oak Bay (778.265.8002)

Day15: Yesterday and Tomorrow

"Yesterday and Tomorrow" - 6x8 - Oil on Canvas
"Ayer y Mañana" - 15x20cm - Oleo sobre Lienzo
$90

So yesterday I painted hydrangeas, today  hydrangeas and a nectarine, so maybe you can guess what I am painting tomorrow! I actually started this one yesterday, I had only half an hour and I blocked it in in those 30 minutes. The idea was to come in today and give it another little while inspired by Robert Genn's twice weekly letter form a couple of weeks ago ("The 37 Club") in which he says that a very good exercise is to do a painting in 37 minutes. I forces you to stay fresh, not overwork your piece and makes you look harder. Mine ended up being more like 57 minutes but that is ok. I liked having the time limit. It stopped me from over  correcting and overworking it.
