We have made it all the way to Nanuvut!! We finally arrived at Arctic Haven which is a wonderful lodge in the middle of nowhenere on Lake Ennadai. To get there we travelled fom Yellowknife for 2 hours on a DC7 and landed on a sand landing strip.
Gorgeous views, Fall colours were all out and I fell in love with the reds, pinks, ochres and oranges everywhere. The ground is completely covered by berries of many different kinds, lichens, mosses and arctic willows. Just beautiful!
The first full day there took us by boat to a place called Halfway Bluff on the lake and this is the vista I chose to paint. I will be changing some things to it later on but I am very pleased with a lot of what happened here! I was more than anything else, figuring out the colours of the landcape.

Con este cuadro hemos llegado a Nanuvut! Finalmente llegamos a Arctic Haven, un hospedaje maravilloso en el medio de la nada sobre el Lago Ennadai. Para llegar ahí viajamos desde Yellowknife dos horas en un DC7 que aterrizó en una pista de arena compactada. Vistas hermosas, los colores del otoño estaban a pleno y me enamoré de los rojos, rosados, ocres y naranjas que había por todos lados. El suelo está completamente cubierto de berries de muchas clases distintas, líquenes, musgo y arbustos bajos. Simplemente espectacular. Al dia siguiente nos llevaron a un lugar en barco que se llama Halfwy Point sobre lago y esta fue la vista que yo elegí pintar. Le tengo que cambiar muchas cosas pero estoy muy contenta con muchas otras cosas que pasaron en este cuadro. Más que nada estaba tratando de entender y reproducir los colores de este paisaje.
